Grief and painful experiences do not follow a timetable. You might be coping well in public and struggling in private, or feel numb when you expected to feel sad.
Whether the loss is recent or happened long ago, and whether the pain came from one event or many years, it deserves to be heard.
There is no right way to grieve, and no deadline for healing.
People often come for support with
Why the pain can stay with you
What you feel is a natural response to what you have been through.
Your mind is trying to protect you
After a painful experience, it is common to feel on edge, numb, or to avoid reminders. These are often the mind's ways of protecting you, even when they no longer help.
Grief moves in waves
Feeling better one week and overwhelmed the next is not going backwards. Grief often comes and goes rather than moving in a straight line.
Unspoken pain stays heavy
When there has been no safe place to talk, pain can stay frozen. Putting it into words, at your own pace, can help it begin to shift.
How Funmilola works with you
An integrative approach, which means the way she works is shaped around you, not the other way round.
Your pace, always
You decide what to share and when. Nothing is forced, and you can pause whenever you need to.
Making sense of it
Gently exploring how what happened affects how you think, feel and relate today.
Steadying tools
Simple ways to cope with difficult moments, drawn from cognitive behavioural approaches.
If you would like your Christian faith to be part of your support, Funmilola can include it. If not, that is fully respected.
What to expect
Every step is your choice. You can pause or stop at any time.

Questions about trauma and grief support
Is it too late to get support for a loss from years ago?
No. Old losses and painful experiences can still affect you today, and it is never too late to talk about them.
Will I have to talk about the details of what happened?
No. You set the pace and choose what to share. You will not be pushed to describe more than you are ready to.
Can my faith be part of grief support?
Yes, if you would like it to be. Funmilola can include Christian perspectives when you ask. If you would prefer not to bring faith in, that is fully respected.
How much does it cost?
Each 60-minute session costs £80. The first 15-minute call is free.
How does online counselling work?
Sessions take place on Zoom. You join from a private, quiet space where you will not be overheard, using a phone, tablet or computer with a stable connection.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and what you are carrying. You review progress together after six sessions and decide whether to continue, change how often you meet, or finish.
What if I need urgent help?
Help Ariseth is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent support, call NHS 111 or Samaritans free on 116 123, any time.
