Many people who come to individual counselling are still going to work, looking after others and getting things done. From the outside, life looks fine. Inside, it feels heavy, tense or empty.
You do not need a diagnosis, and you do not need to know exactly what is wrong. If something has felt off for a while, that is reason enough to talk.
You do not need a crisis to deserve support.
People often come to talk about
Why you can be coping and still not be okay
What you feel usually makes sense once you understand where it comes from.
You learned to keep going
If you have always been the dependable one, carrying on can become automatic. Your mind keeps working long after your energy has run out, and rest starts to feel like failure.
Feelings you put aside do not disappear
Pushing emotions down can help you get through a hard season. Over time, they often return as tiredness, irritability, worry or a low mood you cannot explain.
Your roles have taken over
When life is organised around being a professional, a parent or a carer, it is easy to lose touch with what you need. Feeling lost is often a sign that part of you is asking to be noticed.
How Funmilola works with you
An integrative approach, which means the way she works is shaped around you, not the other way round.
Being truly heard
A warm, non-judgemental space where you set the pace, rooted in person-centred counselling.
Understanding patterns
Gently exploring how past experiences shape how you think, feel and relate today.
Practical steps
Where it helps, simple tools for worry and stress, drawn from cognitive behavioural approaches.
If you would like your Christian faith to be part of your counselling, Funmilola can include it. If not, that is fully respected. She does not give advice or tell you what to do; you explore your options together.
What to expect
Every step is your choice. You can pause or stop at any time.
A free 15-minute call
A short, relaxed conversation to see whether working together feels right.
Your first session
Time to share what has brought you here, agree what you would like to work on, and go through the counselling agreement together.
Regular sessions
Usually weekly or fortnightly, at a time that works for you, from anywhere private and quiet.
A review after six sessions
You look back together at what has changed, and decide whether to continue, adjust or finish.

Questions about individual counselling
What can I talk about in counselling?
Anything that matters to you. People bring worry, low mood, exhaustion, relationships, work, faith, grief or simply a feeling that something is not right. There is no topic too small.
Do I need a diagnosis to have counselling?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or a referral. Funmilola does not give medical diagnoses. If it would help, she may encourage you to speak with your GP alongside counselling.
How does online counselling work?
Sessions take place on Zoom. You join from a private, quiet space where you will not be overheard, using a phone, tablet or computer with a stable connection.
How much does individual counselling cost?
Each 60-minute session costs £80. The first 15-minute call is free.
Can my Christian faith be part of counselling?
Yes, if you would like it to be. Funmilola can include Christian perspectives when you ask. If you would prefer not to bring faith in, that is fully respected.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and what you bring. You review progress together after six sessions and decide whether to continue, change how often you meet, or finish.
What if I need urgent help?
Help Ariseth is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent support, call NHS 111 or Samaritans free on 116 123, any time.
